Ruby Sue Albertsen was born April 6th at 25 weeks 6 days gestation. She weighed 1 pound 6 ounces and was 11.4 inches in length. She is up to 15+ pounds and 25 inches. 

 

Kim still continues to travel back and forth splitting her time between Ruby and work/home/Brett. She spends every other night in Iowa City and trys hard to see Ruby daily. Brett works four- 10 hr days and then is with Ruby for the long weekends!

 

Ruby is a fighter and has done remarkable, however sometimes it still takes a long time for lungs to grow new tissue. She has made remarkable progress and all are proud of how far she has come. She has adjusted well to her trach and now we need to continue working on building stamina on her home vent. Her projected home date is mid summer, pending they find home nurse care.  We all are praying they do and that Ruby comes home when she is good and ready!!! As much as they love their medical family they dream of the day they can be living under the same roof called home together as a family of 3.

Brett & Kim know it’s been a long 10+ months with an unnumbered amount of time ahead so we wanted to encourage their family AGAIN with Team Ruby gear. A percentage of each item will go directly back to Brett & Kim to help cover the costs of gas, food and their hotel (They do get a discount rate on their hotel room through the Rossi House foundation and NICU families pay about $12 a night, what a blessing!!!)
